The psychological challenges for children and parents living with allergies will be the focus of a talk to be given by Dr Polly James in the Learning Centre at this year’s Allergy & Free From Show (Olympia, London) on Saturday July 9 at 1300 hrs.

Dr James has recently taken up her appointment as Clinical Psychologist in the Children’s Allergy Service at Evelina Children’s Hospital, London, a new role funded by Action Against Allergy. She will be providing help to allergic children and their parents in facing up to the issues involved.

It is believed to be the first service of its kind in the UK and it is hoped it will be replicated elsewhere.

Visitors to the show can also meet and talk to Dr James in Speakers’ Corner in a separate interactive session at 14.45 on the same day when she will describe some of the ways in which psychologists help children, young people and their families cope with the challenges that can be posed by living with allergies. Parents will be invited to share their own experiences and seek some specific advice from Dr James.
